Our story
We began where a newsroom's reach ended - with the long, patient work of turning evidence into decisions.
YBDI was established as an independent foundation so that this work could be governed and funded appropriately. With its own board, conflict-of-interest policy, and financial reporting — while continuing to draw on the Katadata ecosystem's research, ESG, and media capabilities, yet remaining editorially and institutionally distinct from it.
That combination is deliberate. It gives our programs unusual reach into public conversation, and gives our evidence the independence it needs to be credible with government, industry, and communities alike.
